Striping Away the Monday Blues

This spring is about a lot of things, but stripes are definitely high on the list. Which is generally a good thing, I like stripes because they always add a nice contrast to anything else you are wearing. Of course, one must always be careful of the horizontal stripe pit fall- which is that they run the risk of making you look very WIDE- it's like an understated "wide load sign" attached to your body if they don't fit right. I think one person did stripes particularly well this spring- and that is Marc Jacobs (all items below available at www.shopbop.com)

I love the color blocking detail, but then I saw this on Hailee Steinfeld and IMMEDIATELY regretted my decision. I think this look like halloween candy corn on crack, and not in a good way. Of course everyone ranted and raved about how cute it was, and I'm fine being the individual who openly despises it.

But, there are always the ugly outliers. I really loved this dress by MJ because the colors are very summery, and, more importantly, because Urban Outfitter's has a perfect knock off that is like 1/6th the price.

To be fair, that dress looks a lot better on Amanda Seyfried than it does on Hailee.
