Don't Let a Pre-Sale Play You Wrong

The whole idea of a "pre-sale" seems like a rather clever ploy- it makes the general public think the item on pre-sale is such a hot commodity, that if you don't actually order it ahead of time, then you will have to wait MONTHS of YEARS before you can obtain it. Really, it's just a crafty way for them to avoid making too many of the product, and then get stuck not being able to sell it. Now, there are few items over the course of history that have met "legitimate pre-sale needed" status- please tell me everyone remembers tickle-me elmo and that fiasco. If you didn't order that freaky red fur ball ahead of time, your child was going to hate you, or santa, ultimately ruining Christmas for everyone. I feel like there were a multitude of nintendo, x box, and other video gamed related crap that also met this criteria, but I clearly didn't put it on my Christmas list (which is something I always admired my sister for having prepared and in alphabetical order by November 1st of every year). Most recently, I fell into this pre-sale trap, and felt the need to pre-order the Britney Spears album, cause everyone loves a comeback story, right?

But let me get to the point- browsing on shopbop.com I came across the new Alice + Olivia shoes for this spring, which they featured in a whole spread to wet your appetite, only to inform you that they are available for "PRE-SALE ONLY". With all do respect, pre-sale $295 my ass. I'm not a huge fan of most of the shoes this season, as they are a throw back to seventies platform shoes that I already rocked in multiple colors in the later years of middle school. So I sort of feel like "been there, done that", and I'm only 25 (which means I am WAY too young to feel like styles are recycling in my life time already). I distinctly remember picture day 6th grade my friend told me I looked like a slut because I had black Delias platform shoes, a black skirt, and a turtleneck- you know how slutty those turtlenecks can get in Catholic Schools. Either way, I prefer the Alice + Olivia option of a fierce heel verses a 70's platform, but Michael Antonio has an option that is 1) available right now, 2) a fraction of the price. So don't be a pre-sale victim ladies.
